Disappearing ink.
« on: September 10, 2025, 06:04:59 AM »
Doing a survey to see how many people have the ink dissappear or fade off their tags. I have never had tags not fade drastically  but I bought one in the spring and it is absolutely blank.

Is it still legal to hunt with?

Seems to happen just about every other year. Moisture and heat seem to be the culprits… I’ve taken it back to get a reprint for tags prior to the season and not been charged after being checked by a warden. I was not charged for the reprint.

Definetly dont leave them on the dash of the truck in the sun for very long, they either get whitewashed out or they blow away. I've experienced both

We have had a number of wardens threatened to ticket over fading ink, but our license is in tags were always still somewhat legible. To keep things safe we’d always get reprints.

Rode in my pocket for a few week, then on my nightstand for 5 months.
Definitely don't buy tags until the last minute.

Make sure you put them in a license holder to prevent this... They don't do well loose in a pocket or in direct sunlight...
I love you... I really do...

My license and tags live in the little front zipper pouch of my bino harness is a snack sized zip lock bag. When I am in the field, the bino harness goes everywhere with me. I put it on when I leave camp/truck and it only comes off when back in the truck or back to camp. Never had to think about fading, losing it or not having it.

The fun part of this is they give you a holder to clip it to the rear view mirror aaand it fades very quickly with any sunlight were it is supposed to be displayed.
My marine permits do not fade like that (so far) and they live on the dashboard.
Cuterebra are NOT cute!
