CITES hide sealer and Fur Harvesters Receiving Agent info Pt 1
« on: October 17, 2025, 08:53:02 PM »
Pelt Sealing: I'm now an official WDFW Sealing Agent for bobcats and otters!  Details:  Most of this is common knowledge, however it's better to put it out there:
NO I CANNOT seal Mt Lions. This must be done by WDFW personnel.
NO I Cannot seal tribal fur.
NO I I will not give you a seal to take home and seal a hide yourself.
Read the WDFW small game and Trapper regs.  These spell out yours' and my requirements.  Trapping season begins 1 Nov and ends 31 Mar.  Small game for Bobcats is 1 Sept to Mar 15th.  Fur-wise, cats prime up late, so if you're looking to sell, after 1 Dec is best.  PM me on any details regarding selling.  (I'm looking for coastal/westerns with and without feet this year.)

Bobcats:  Jaws.  This is what I'm doing and not doing:
If you are selling a cat to me whether on carcass or skinned, I will take care of separating and turning in the jaw for you as part of the deal.  This includes if you want me to get your hides tanned for you.  I will take care of my customer.  If you have multiple hides to tag, remember BEFORE YOU START SKINNING to set up a way so your 19 skulls correspond with your 19 hides on boards.  Ask me how I know....Hit me up for some easy tips on this.

PSA: WDFW department personnel WILL NOT take complete skulls this year.  They made this clear at the beginning of the season that they would take them for 1 season only.  If you go to an office with a full skull you will leave with sad face.

If you are just wanting to just get your hide sealed and get it back, then you must either separate the jaw yourself, or expect to pay a small fee for the pleasure of me doing your work.  The old saying "Grass, Gas, or Ass, no one rides for free" applies.  I don't smoke, and I'm old and married, but I do need gas money.  I don't HAVE to be a pelt sealer.  It adds work to my life.
Most of you know I have a pretty flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, but I do get out and about so please call/text/Facebook PM ahead to make sure I'm around before you make the drive.  Also, text or PM me on any questions.

FUR HARVESTERS:
I'm now a FUR HARVESTERS AUCTION Receiving Agent like George was.  While I am not making any circuits just to pick up fur, I plan to be at most of the auctions and at the WSTA spring fur sale/rendezvous.  I will also post if I happen to be going in different areas in case you want fur picked up.
I will post follow on info on requirements for those who may want to ship. You can't just hand off a bag of fur.  It's required you register with FHA as a trapper first.  I will set my last receiving dates.  DO NOT pay attention to FHA's last receiving dates on their website if you intend to ship through me.  I must receive, inventory, bag up with everyone else's, schedule, palletize, and load the freight.  Like pelt sealing, I don't have to do this, it adds work to my life, but I want to help out the trappers any way I can. More to follow on this process.

Very good news, Frank.
I was just thinking of contacting FHA about how to ship to them without an agent.
Question answered.
