I wanted the Lyman sight, and was going to strip this Winchester 06 for parts.  It ended up being a pretty nifty little rifle.  Quite a few photos of what can be done with a pretty badly corroded rifle in the link.  It was a mess.

Weren't those the old gallery and carnival 22's? My dad gave me his when I was a youngster and now my kid has it but I think it's a 61A, not sure. Sweet and fun to shoot.

Yes.  What you likely have is a 62a.  Same basic rifle, coil mainspring, larger fore end and walnut stock are the primary differences.

Fun to shoot.  You don’t say.  Here’s the deal on that, I can take fifteen or twenty rimfire rifles to the range with kids of all ages (even older than me) and turn them loose.  By the end of the day they are going to have these 1890, 1906 and 62a rifles and will go for hours.  I might have semi auto, extremely accurate match rifles, beautiful single shots, bench rest rifles.  It doesn’t matter.  Hang a bunch of wiffle balls from para cord and it’s just more fun than ought to be allowed.

Maybe this winter I will be back in Winchester slide action mode.  I’ll post on it once I get going.  Everybody likes them.

I’m going to do four Model 90s with new octagon barrels that have the top flat matted like the rib on a Model 12 Trap Gun and have the correct stamping.  Two we will be altering the lower tang and fitting pistol grip stocks to them.  One XXX Walnut and one fiddleback maple, if they can ever find wood I want.  If it comes to it I do have a few blanks here that I can send their way, but I have been holding onto them with something else in mind.  I paid for the barrels a year ago and they may show up soon. I am waiting on stock blanks for two, but have a color case hardened action and straight grip stock waiting for one of the barrels.  One barrel I don’t know what I’m going to do with it yet.

They can be plain Jane, or they can be gussied up.  This one has a nickeled receiver and rust bluing.  They are so versatile.  I usually have at least one going on.  They are just fun.

Catch you reckless eyeballing my broccoli plant again and I might just have to take out my bow and teach you a thing or two about pokin round in another man’s truck patch.

Beautiful restoration!  What a difference!  One of these days I will get around to my projects.  I have an old Remington model 6 rolling block and a Mossberg 151m waiting in the wings...
