Youth cow tag success

well after a really rough Idaho season. My youngest son came into his youth tag pretty excited. We started our morning in cowiche with his “Grumpa” and I letting him guide the way of where he wanted to look. We made it to our spot and after getting out of “Grumpas” extra fancy Polaris expedition we saw to bucks sparing on the ridge we got spotter out so we could take some pics. We saw a family not far off the road. I said we had to give them space and we started to move a bit further and my son says dad 6 elk right there! I said let’s give those people a chance as they we there first ( also assuming ) they had a cow tag. Well the shooting started. I looked at my son and said this is why you practice we moved about a 100 yards over I set up tripod ( gun vise) and said it’s set up find the biggest one and I ranged them at 311 yards, he said dad farthest one to right is stopped I’m ready I said shoot when your comfy! He let the 7mm mag rip. He hit it I knew was a great shot. But looked smidge back. The elk ran back but the count changed. He moved to possibly take another shot and I said hold off. I saw one limping but I knew it was not one he shot at. I said let’s give those those people go after them we are gonna go to where you shot( I didn’t want to get his hopes up and wanted him to stay calm) we talked to GRUMPA and told him our plan and he said he would keep an eye out. Another spike hunter headed up hill . Well I unloaded a few things and we headed across the creek and uphill, I said we will check your spot you shot and make a plan we cleared some oaks and I saw the spike hunter smiling ear to ear with thumbs up he said she’s here! I turned around and watch Noah just lose it with joy ! He said dad I did it! I’m so glad I practiced so much!!!! He said a famous saying
@teanawayslayer
taught him ! See elk -shoot elk- CELEBRATE !!!!!! Right away he thanked the hunter for pointing her out!!!! Perfect shot liver lung. Dropped her and she rolled about 20ft down hill. Into a bush. I was overcome with joy we called Grumpa on the radio and I could hear his happiness. We snapped some photos and he had to call his older brother and mom. Was a wonderful day. I know there was some success for other members im happy to see kids find success and was happy my dad was there meant the world to my son and I.
