Throwing a Hail Marry - Late Season Deer or Elk
« on: Yesterday at 05:31:52 PM »
Here is the story, one of my friends (new hunter) has turned me onto hunting the westside this year for the late season. After getting skunked in the early deer season  on the Eastside I am hoping to try muzzleloader for either Deer or Elk. I have done some research on GMU 501 and 505. What I am looking for is help picking a primitive camping spot in a unit I can hunt in. I can do the rest of my own research but finding a good camping spot out of the wind would be really nice place to start. FYI I have not permits at this time and will be walk-in hunting, poor planning but I could not make plans until now. I just need to get out and enjoy God's country.

Also if you have an idea to dry clothes besides a hot tent I would love to hear them. All I got is a Mr. Buddy Heater and sleeping bag filled with clothes to dry/warm stuff.

Thanks,

Cory

Try the Winston creek DNR campground for Mossyrock 505

https://dnr.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2025-03/amp_rec_winston_creek_reservation_instructions.pdf

Also state land north side of highway 12 near Flynn rd

Use huntonx

Good luck

Not many places in 505 available to camp that you wouldnt be about 30min or less from Mossyrock or Morton. If your cothes get drenched run into town and take them to the laundromat and through them in a dryer! :twocents:
