Taxation in 1855, per the googler.

"The concept of specific "roadway taxes" as they exist today (like fuel taxes or vehicle weight fees) did not exist in their modern form at that time. Modern motor vehicle fuel taxes in Washington are user-based charges that only began to develop much later in the 20th century.
A notable legal point related to this era is that an 1855 treaty with the Yakama Nation preserved their right to travel upon all public highways, which has been interpreted by modern courts to preempt the state's current fuel tax as applied to tribal members importing fuel for reservation sale. This historical context highlights the general nature of taxation during that period compared to contemporary, specific-use taxes."
"Interpreted" is the big word in most ALL native treaty rights. ONLY those who were involved in the writing/signing know intention...AT/FOR THAT TIME.
There is zero chance back then that any of those involved had the foresight to see where the world would be in the future...ZERO!
I get that things were done back then that are now deemed unacceptable, (Were they unacceptable at that time era?) but that was then..........
NOW is different. I strongly believe that as a whole, folks treat each other much better and have way more respect for other cultures/beliefs/way of life.
To continue to dwell in the past, and use that as an advantage, to have different rights than others, sure seems like "special privileges"(not rights) to me. I'm not saying Assimilation is the answer but maybe try FORGIVING what ALL our forefathers did wrong in the past and learn from it. Try to get along with others who had nothing to do with what happened back then.
If it is equality that is wanted, then folks must want to be equal. If its special rights you want, I do not see that as ever wanting to change for the better.

.......gonna have to change that too "two nickels worth"
