Bow shop around tacoma-seattle area?
« on: November 21, 2025, 05:26:07 PM »
Hi all. I have been wanting to get a bow for some time now. Can anyone recommend me a shop nearby? I live in milton but have no problem with driving. I have never shot a compound bow before and obviously a complete beginner. Besides watching a bunch of YouTube videos I know nothing. I am planning to get a flagship bow and use it for practice for next couple years, hopefully eventually take it hunting. With Washington tags being for specific weapon types I think I'll stick with rifle for next couple of years but still want to practice with the bow in the meantime while I keep putting in for that multi season tag.

Thanks all.

Ps. Should I take some classes before even going to the shop? Since I literally never shot a compound before. (And the recurve that I did shoot was years ago and was very little, just for fun)

Go see Sean at GNW Archery in Puyallup. He sells Mathews, Hoyt and PSE. He does lessons and the shop is on the Skookum archers range that has a flat range and 4 walk through courses for practice.

Mays archery in Puyallup. Send him a message on facebook and he'll pretty much just set up an appointment for you to come by his place. I've gone to him for a few years and won't go anywhere else. He'll do the work right in front of you and doesn't try to sell you *censored* like other shops. Always answers questions if you're curious about what he's doing too.

He's the type of guy you want working on your stuff. He aint trying to get rich, he's just good at working on bows and enjoys helping others.

Both Lacy and Troutdale have closed. Battleground and Vancouver close on December 23rd. Black Friday sale will be massive.

Good to know. The email I got from them said two shops had closed. Maybe BG and Troutdale then. Sorry for the misinfo.
