Diarrhea ?
« on: Yesterday at 11:32:05 AM »
Crappy subject, but what do you do for the dog that may have had a bit of dietary indiscretion, and is now squirting up a storm?

I was going to just wait it out but I'm getting a bit worried, going on day 3 now.

how old is the dog? Are they current on the parvo vaccine? It maybe pancreatitis, best thins is rice and water and electrolyte while the gut and pancreas chills out. Just ideas from a long line of assorted dog ailments over the years.

We’ve had luck with canned pumpkin purée, chicken and rice in the past

He’s 5 years old and he is up to date on parvo.  I tried the rice thing but he won’t eat it.  I’ll try some pumpkin.

I’ll also try to get some electrolyte into him.  I hadn’t thought of that, and I’m sure needs some.  He’s been drinking lots of water, so I’ll slip some in that.

Thanks

Go to farm store and find some activated clay, and get him full of electrolytes

We have had success with both the pumpkin and the rice over the years. Good luck to you and the pup! Totally understand the concern on your end as well, hopefully behind you in a couple days.

Imodium worked great on our pigs.
Never tried it on dogs

Pumpkin and rice is what I’ve used for holistic.

Did the dog by chance get a lot of turkey skin?  That can muck with their pancreas.

One plain air fried chicken breast for dinner. No seasoning. One meal a day.
Wash and sanitize his water bowl everyday.

Canned pumpkin is convenient but not really as good as fresh cooked. Still plenty around but you'll gotta look. I've a pumpkin farm and put up enough every year for 3 dogs each meal. Good suggestion for dog owners next fall.
