I've had a bunch over the years, now I find alternating between a Marsupial gear pack and a Rick Young Outdoors minimalist strap, depending on what I'm doing.

I have an AGC Kodiak Cub Max that I used for one season, it's very well made but I don't care for the rearward opening lid.  Seems to sort of get in the way for me.  The Marsupial opens forward and the lid is magnetic, so it stays closed or open depending on what you want it to do.

The minimalist strap is great when I'm not feeling like using the pack (like when I'm still hunting in the woods), I can wrap the cords around the barrels of my binos to keep them from flopping around, or wear it side saddle to keep them out of the rain.

Currently Alaska guide creations but this thread has me curious about other options. I’m going to look at some of them.

The Stone Glacier Skyline (1st gen) is about as minimalistic as it gets for a fully enclosed harness. I personally strongly prefer forward opening over rearward.

I've owned a few. The S4 Lockdown is very minimalist, inexpensive, easily adjusted. I like the badlands pack but it's bulky.

I love my Kuiu Pro, other than its squeeky. I need to see if I can fix that.

I also run the KUIU. No noise issues with mine. Maybe I got lucky?

I have the Badlands harness. I like the bow hook on the bottom and it’s easy to get the binos in and out. It also has small pockets for the lens pen and powder. It has a bladder pack compartment but I don’t care for that much since I always have a backpack when I hike.
