Seen 2 similar to that coloring in 2023 modern deer southwest of Tiffany 5 miles or so...

Hint, they've been around the Methow for decades!  Before any reintroduction ever took place.  You never seen them, when all you do is sit behind a desk, right wolfbait!!!

A friend saw 11 above Cougar Lake hunting the Pearygin quality tag this year. I saw one on the side of 20 by Big Valley about 5 years ago or so. Pure white.

There are a lot of them around.

2024 season during modern in chewach, saw a pack of 13 wolves come up the ridge towards me, got to 80 yds, all 13 looking in my direction couldnt see me. i sat for 1 minute with binos in disbelief. there were 4-5 yearlings in the group. once the wind shifted they took off through deadfall faster than any mulie ive seen navigate it. set up a cam and got most of the pack on it in early nov.
btw, our 2025 season, saw even more wolves. lol lots of howling too

A cougar snatched a dog off of someone's porch last week in broad daylight in front of the owner.   Gee, I wonder why.

I’d also bet the wolf reintroduction to Colorado, played a role in that gal that was killed by a cougar yesterday.

Hint: very few "Locals" left in the Methow.  Clueless on "rural life" but claim they know how to save it!

Talked with a fella that was camped up Fawn Creek this past general season. They had 7 or 8 people with 3 different set ups. One night they were all sitting around the fire and heard something, they shined a light to see a wolf about 30-40 yards from them looking directly at them. It spooked and trotted off with 8 more followers that they could see. They pulled out the next day.

And bone, speaking of cats, we seen 2 different cats this past season, all in the dark walking into areas. Really a pucker moment when you hear something and shine your light in the direction only to see a cat slinking away, geez!!!!

Well, just might be the year for the Methow to experience what just happened in Colorado. There were some close call's in the decades I lived there and just recently too.  There is a good reason for what is called "predator control"!   The pioneers understood its meaning!!   Educated past their intelligence people don't!

Oh ya, knowing one of the original sno groomers operators, all you skinny stick skiers running the trails at night,  should look behind you once in a while!!!

There were some close call's in the decades I lived there and just recently too.  There is a good reason for what is called "predator control"!   The pioneers understood its meaning!!   Educated past their intelligence people don't!

Oh ya, knowing one of the original sno groomers operators, all you skinny stick skiers running the trails at night,  should look behind you once in a while!!!

Numbers were kept more under control prior to then.
And the deer herd was huge!

Had a WDFW gal try and tell me that climate change is what destroyed the Methow herd.   She even believed the Mule deer in the Methow didn't migrate if the snow levels(brisket deep) didn't happen and move them from the high country.  But then, the ranchers you know, were stealing water from the salmon and loggers were destroying Spotted Owl habitat!!

Now they are nurturing the predator population to keep deer numbers down. Thats the only reason I can see for why wolves, cats and bears are being so coddled. Like many have said, it’s going to take more unfortunate events with humans, livestock and pets before they wake up. Funny you bring up the “skinny stick skiers”, a friend of mine ran into a couple a few years ago while checking his cameras, he told the two skiers to keep an eye open because he had seen fresh wolf tracks close by, there response basically was they have never seen a wolf or a cat in the 10 years they’ve lived in the valley and for that matter didn’t believe the issue was relevant. My buddies response was, that’s the problem, you won’t see them until it’s to late, he went on to tell them that he was surrounded by a pack of wolves back when he was a young man in Alaska and ended up killing two of them at 20 yards, he didn’t even know they were there until he heard one growl AND his head was always on a swivel while he was out and about up there, if that one wolf wouldn’t have growled he told them he would have probably been dinner. They ended up saying they weren’t concerned, it’s a lot of hype.

All of the great ideas for cat safety, spray, gun, size, group and more go out the window if the cat decides, rare to know before it is to late.  Be careful out there

Well, the deer are certainly paying the price for the changing political climate in WA so she's not entirely wrong

There is no down side to them protecting predators as far as their agenda. They don’t care and no amount of attacks will change their mind. We are a dying breed and they want us gone by any means necessary. Cougars, wolves, bears are just one tool in their box.


Hunting tags fall off and they will argue that it’s not needed any longer or not effective.
 
They got Spring Bear cancelled, if anyone try’s to bring it back their will be lawsuits for years.
 
Now we have quotas on cougars, it’s just a step towards the end.

Wolves will never be unlisted.
