That would be illegal.  One would have to lie filling out the salvage location data.

This kinda reminds me of the Idaho Tcam thread where a post was made referencing slowly the gubernment is/will be turning many into "poachers"/illegal doings. FACT!

 :twocents:
Is it?  I've never filled out a salvage tag before, so I don't know the stipulations.   :dunno:

The law specifies the deer/elk must have been accidentally hit by a motor vehicle.
Roger.  Thanks for the clarification.

and there is a map where ya need to post location of vehicle struck deer. Been a few years, but I have done quite a few.

I like the idea as a way to get a deadhead, just dont want to see someone get in trouble for not knowing salvage rules.

I guess if I ever find one that big, I could drop by the WDFW office and inquire about getting a salvage tag for a deadhead.  Doesn't hurt to ask, and then it would be totally on the up and up...
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Well...this was suppose to be more about respect for other hunters who actually do value the 'trophy'...but the legalities of taking a deer head found in the woods is good too.

 :chuckle:

If it was an absolute toad then yeah it would be a bro move to look for a different meat buck if you don't care about the antlers. In general it's better to take meat bucks than meat does, it makes no difference in the end whether the antlers go on your wall or in the trash. And if you're hypothetically hunting an APR unit then you don't have a choice in the matter, you're required to take the antlers whether you want them or not.
