7PRC reloading
« on: December 27, 2025, 06:31:28 PM »
Hey all,
My son just bought a Seekins rifle in 7PRC. Does anyone have any good starting points for reloading. Looking at Hornady Eldx or Nosler Accubonds for bullets.

Thanks for any info!

If he reloads, I would look real hard at the hammer hunter monolithic bullets.  I’m pushing the 155 gr Hammer Hunter at 3275 fps and they are very accurate.  My next 7prc will be a seeking and I will likely stick to a 120-130 class hammer hunter and run it fast.  Hammers are great bullets.

Of the two you mentioned, I would stay with the accubond.   I’m not a fan of the ELD-X bullets.

I run a 169 hammer hunter at 2980 over H1000. It is ridiculously accurate and consistent to 1,000. I have killed several deer with it. Couldn’t be happier.

I have worked up to 71.0g of H1000 with a Barnes 160LRX.  Shooting .282 groups @100 yards.

Second the Hammers, my 20" 7PRC pushes the 140 Absolute Hammer just under 3300 with RL-16

Mine 26 inch barrel 67 grains H-1000 and a 180 Berger VLD.  Mine shot Bergers better than Hornady ELD-Ms.  Tried N560 and Retumbo but H1000 was better.

I have a Seekins havok element in 7mm prc. Best groups I've been able to get was with h1000 and berger 180 hybrids. 3030fps 22" barrel.

I have a Christensen 7 PRC with a 22” carbon fiber barrel. I wanted to shoot the 160 Accubond or Partitions, but I could not get them to shoot. I ended up loading the 140 Accubond with 73.5 g of N565. F215 primer and Peterson brass seated at 3.210 OAL. I get 3168 fps and they shoot .5-.75 inch groups.

If you're on facebook follow/join the "Seekins precision owners group". They have tons of members and a wealth of knowledge.  Many of the members work for Seekins and Glen Seekins himself is on their quite a bit answering questions personally.

If he plans on shooting long go heavy, I shoot 195 EOL Bergers in my .28 nosler being pushed be Reloder 33 powder. When I get too 700 yards it outperforms my 30-378 Weatherby with 210 Bergers

Mine is a 7mm Blaser mag but the 7 PRC and it are nearly twins and I'm using RL26 with 180 Berger Hunting VLD's at 3100 from a 26in Hart.  I know a couple different guys that are getting good results with N570 and RL33 with 162 and 180 ELD-M's.  Those 180 ELD-M's have a hellacious BC and if you're looking for something to shoot long they'd be my pick.

RL26 purchased recently?  I missed a chance at some a month ago but that was the first I had seen it in years.

No, except for people reselling it I haven’t seen any RL26 for sale in years.  I tried it and liked it close to about the time it came out so I built up a decent supply of it before you had to sell a kidney to buy it which is a good thing considering I use more RL26 in different things then all other powders combined.  If I didn’t use 26 in my 7mm I’d probably be using N570.  I think N570 would actually produce slightly better velocities in these size cases but my current load shoots the 180’s so well I can’t bring myself to mess with it.  Retumbo would probably be another good option but I’ve personally never had great luck with it so for me it’d be N570 followed closely by RL33 as my other options.
