They should just open it up for any elk.  Then make the late season spike or cow only.  The early season is so short that if the weather is hot we know how that affects them.  Oregon has just one season on the east side for bow hunters and it is any elk in most spots, some ares are draw only.  I think a lot of us would shoot a cow just as soon as a huge bull.

why would you want to shoot a spike anyway? cows i guess ok, they should make it three point or better and cows. every big bull ive shot taste better than any cow that i have tasted. Im sorry they shouldnt make it 3pt or better unit, because everybody would shoot 3pt and 4pt bulls then it would end up like the winston, nothing but small 5pt baby bulls!  :beatdeadhorse:

I vote to keep it the same.  2 years ago my hunting buddy shot his spike (first and only bull ever) the day before he was diagnosed with cancer.  Only elk he was within range of that year.  Glad that option was there for him.

viper I love your enthusiasm for it being open for any elk, however, if they made it any elk or 3pt min etc.  Then everyone would switch to Archery and the woods would be filled far too many guys.
