There is a learning curve for sure, but wow, once you get over that hump, it’s all you’ll wanna do. One trick I use is I’ll “slap” the reel to get it spinning for super fast retrieves because turning it one crank at a time takes forever, but a full reel will retrieve faster than a reel low on line

Bought those in 1974 I think it was. I think I got the rod at Pay Less or whatever it was back then for $18. Bought the reel from the sports writer for the Bremerton Sun back then for $25. I would still be using the reel for mooching at the Point but it's not fun when a seal grabs your fish.  :bash: That's the main reason I quit fishing there.
