Gardner tag
« on: July 07, 2009, 10:57:52 PM »
Anyone score a Gardner tag?  My dad drew this one and we can't wait.  He had 10 points.

Four months away!

congrats on the draw.

I've been trying that tag as my first  & only choice for 11 years now. Maybe next year.

That's a sweet tag, congrats to your dad. I will be one unit south (wolf unit) helping a bud with his tag.

Yes, I also drew the late buck tag for the Gardner unit (8 points).  Never hunted the unit, but plan to scout it during the general season. It wipes out my elk hunting, but should be worth it. See you up there!

Thanks Bro. I just looked at your photo album. Very nice. So what's the trick to late season mulies, or mulies in general? I'm normally a wet side blacktail chaser... Thanks again.

Were in the same boat as you Backstrap. We are kind of clueless when it comes to late season mulie hunting.  My dad has hunted it during the general season a few years back, and I have hunted the general archery season for the last 2 years.  But when it comes to hunting during the late season we don't know what to expect :dunno:. Congrats to a great tag.

I'm counting on 80% commonality with any other hunting. Get off the beaten path, go slow, lots of looking/glassing, and cover some ground. I'll be mostly still hunting.

Ok, I'll bite - just do not know what you are talking about - what is a Gardner Tag?  For a special area or what?  Thanks for the help.
