Long Lake Boat Launches?
« on: November 29, 2007, 08:51:57 AM »
I am new to this site and would like to introduce myself.  My name is Greg and I live in Spokane, I hunt waterfowl and pheasants whenever the children don't have sports going on.  My main hunting buddy is Jett my black lab he and I have been hunting together for 10 years now (lots of great memories).

It's nice to see their are others that live in Spokane or surrounding areas. So this leads me to the boat launch question I am hoping you can help me with.  I used to launch at Forshee's in Tum Tum or the DNR launch but they are both closed. Are there any others around the area that are open to the public?  Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know, the only one open is the one at nine mile.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.  It pisses me off that the state closes the state launch after Labor Day, its ridiculous.  The reason given is that they don't want to pay people to maintain the campground in the fall/winter, I dont know why they dont just say no camping, but keep the launch open.  Especially when it is tax dollars and boat launch permit revenue (which we pay for when we buy our fishing liscence) that pays for that.

I cannot agree more that what you two say above. Long Lake is the most unaccessible public lake in Washington I believe. I asked the rangers about this and the game warden their answer nothing is going to change. The only launch we have after labor Day is the river launch and that is a prop eater or lower unit buster depending on what you hit.

yeah its huntable....and in-accessable, unless you have a friend....which I don't  :'(....or you can go to nine mile, and make a long cold run up to wherever you find a good enough spot... try to stay away from the houses...I don't know  what the law says about distance, But I figure be at least far enough away that it would be a chore for someone to get out and complain at you.... I have also thought about just going out to fish and bring a shotgun for some pass shooting... perch should be biting good about now....  :twocents:

Pam Taylor has written several reckless endangerment tickets to guys that set up along 291 just outside of the park boundary. I guess people complained of peppered houses and vehicles. If you can get down past the Suncrest boat launch and hunt the waters in front of that grass farmer you have good duck and goose hunting. BUT expect to see the farmer and his brother come on down to give you crap. He and one of his neighbors got into it hot and heavy one day a couple of years back. Just follow the rules, watch the water level so you are legal in front of this guy's land and you're golden. The farmer seems to think it's his private hunting grounds for some fellas that put in his irrigation system.

Regarding this farm...my wife's parents are directly across from the farm. I asked but they were unsure, but assuming I hike down the hill with a small boat and some dekes....what is the legal property boundary of said farm. I've considered parking my john boat on their dock and just trolling over, but I don't know where the property boundary is and don't want to infringe on someone's property rights.

So what's the rule?

Seriously? You guys can't offer anything productive to the thread....but criticize me for bumping it?
At least you can't say I didn't use the search function.
My goodness....some people.
My question is relative to the discussion in the thread. That's the only reason I posted in it.
You two didn't need to post if you didn't have anything to offer.
