On a more positive note I did fill one tag. Chrismas tree tag that is. Best part about that hunt was that is was only $5 and I road hunted.  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Cougeyes- I really liked that last buck I saw. I spent the whole day looking for him the last place I saw him. I just coudn't round him up.

I do have a few more days of general archery here near home. I may still get one. Kinda burned out though.

Yeah I wish i were actually back home when you were there, I would have tried to locate some big bucks for you, i've never actually gone out much during this time of year to locate deer, but next year may be a different story. Well good luck, we all know getting a deer isn't everything, at least you had fun and hopefully learned some newer areas.

Sure did have fun. Thanks to everyone who sent me a message every now and then with tips. I sure appreciated it.
There was a monster shot in the unit with a bow. Another tag holder I spoke to saw it in the back of a truck. I guess it was a pig. Wish I could have seen it.

I'm really debating for next year on putting in for the rifle tag out there.  I know its not the most productive unit as the Entiat and Obviously the desert, but I know that area really well.  I have 8 deer points..maybe 9  not sure though.  The only downside is the late rifle hunt is only 6 days out there, so if the weather is not there you may not see any migrating bucks at all.  I"ll probably keep putting in for the desert in hopes of some day drawing it.

Thing of it is, the Teanaway has some local bucks that would challenge your heart.  So far one of the biggest bucks I've seen taken this year in the state was in the general there.  He's on here somewhere.

Yea Bighorse was the one taking the 30' trailer up to 29 pines. Haven't hear from him on how they did.

The 30ft trailer guy is out and back home in Bellingham just fine.  Thank god for full ton trucks and a full set of chains.

I can honestly say that the big bad 7x8 elk in the photo is officially dead.  I saw a guy take it with his bow.  I even got the honor of handling the rack.

I won't say the score but I did get a green score from the guys........Any guess.

By the way, What is the WA state Archery record?

I was able to put the stalk on one group of cows, busted.

I also got up a trophy size bull but isn't that how it works when you can only shoot cows and spikes.

All I can say it despite the weather it was a good hunt.  I saw at least a hundred deer but not a single buck.  They must be worn out after the rut.  With all that tail around there.

I will officially have a toast to grumpy. I got to know him on a personal level a few years back.  :'(I'm not good at scoring but I was guessing 370 a few years ago, by the photo 350 plus? I'd love to see him in person. That's a great kill with any weapon.

If it is the same 7X8 I took pictures of I would say he is over 350. No very good at scoring though.

When i saw the records posted on this page i thought for Kittitas county there was a bull shot a while back that was in the 390 range, maybe those people just dont turn them into the record books, who knows.
