Rug or mount

I was curious about some of the hunters who get bears every year what they do with the hide. Do they mount it, get a rug, etc? I just got my first bear last year and although it wasnt massive, I went for a rug cause I have always wanted one. So, what do you do with it? Cheers!

I'm not sure how to vote. I've killed 9 bears, but only mounted my biggest, which was my first. I would say if its a gorgeous hide and color phase, go RUG. If its a big blackie go full mount.

My first will be a rug, then I'd like a full mount, I just think it would look cool to have a big ol bear standing to greet someone as they come into a room.

I have only killed one bear so far and I had a rug made. I always wanted a nice rug. My bear was 6'3" with a great coat. One of the guys I was with shot a 6'9" bear. I think I would have done a full body mount of that one. he was huge.
I think i will only do another rug if I get a bigger black bear or a real nice color bear. If I luck out and get one over 7' I would try and get a full mount. The thing with rugs and mounts is they take up a lot of room and cost a lot of money.

I voted neither.... I have killed 14 and mounted two. My wife killed 3 and mounted one. 3 mounts out of 17 doesn't really work with the poll. If I thought I would have room for a rug I would wait for a whopper or color phase.

I've killed two bears the first I had a full standing mount the second I had made into a hat.
I wish that I would have rugged my mounted one as it just takes up to much room...Never really had an issue with the room, till I was married
but now he sits in a closet....

Here are a couple of pictures of two of the bears that I've taken. Both of these bears squared right at 7'1". If it was me and the bear was 6'6" or bigger than I would have a rug made. I think tat a rug shows the size of a big bear much better than a full body mount.
Check it out and see what you think.

Have one bear rug....don't really have a desire to have a mount done.....and figure 1 rug is enough, so could'nt vote the poll
