I would just get out and look for sign. If you find sign and ripe berrys or fruit trees most likely there will be a bear there sometime or another. They go to where the food is.

jackelope said it all, ripe berry patches, eat some yourself, if they aren't ready for you, they aren't ready for the bear either. Cover country find an area with bear sign and then watch the food source.
Good Luck

Find the food. If you sit over the prefered food source you should eventually see a bear.

Are you hunting east or west side of the state?
It was recommended to me on this board that I read this book:
The Education of a Bear Hunter by Ralph Flowers. 15 bucks on Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Education-Bear-Hunter-Flowers/dp/0832304778/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1247184280&sr=8-1
I learned a lot from it and recommend it myself now.

your living real close to some prime bear country, head for the hills. ive got a honey hole right around your area that i hit in September, its great because everybody's bow hunting elk so ya got the bears all to your self. let me know if your still looking for one in September im going alone this year so there may be a spot around the fire for ya
