I like a coarser call then rabbit.  I have called them in with Steve Jones' javelina calls  :)  I am excited to use Bearmanric's calls this fall, they sound excellent.

Notice the first video how the bear is coming on a string when the guy is calling and stops when he stops.  You need to call nonstop until you can see them.  Most likely had he called again it would have come right into to his lap.  That's not pointed out to be critical, I only bring this up because if your cold calling and it's thick you may have bears coming, but if you stop alot of times they will stop and lose interest and wander off and you'll never know they were there.

+1.  The coarse voice will usually require more air out of you, so have a call that doesn't use much air so you can catch your breath, and not pass out.

I call ALOT, Bearmanric called in my sons first bear.
Rabbit call will work, more like a jack then a cotten tail, a little deeper sound. Ever heard abear cub? thats what I try to sound like.
Calf elk calls or fawn sounds too. or you could try to sound like a big bucket of honey or pan of bacon :chuckle: :chuckle:
Bears are not allowed to sneak up and eat you here, that would be baiting.
