Ok Im back again. I've gathered enough money to buy myself a "new" bow to replace my ancient Martin Ocelot.
I was wondering if any of you have shot or own a PSE Nova? Is it a good enough bow for deer and elk? What arrows should I use for this set up? Its a 60-70 lb draw weight and at a 29 in draw length.
Anything helps. Ohh and thanks in advanced.

Well I will jump in here.  I have never shot the PSE Nova but it looks to be decent bow, and plenty for elk.  I would guess with a fall away rest you be shooting 29 1/2 in arrows.  I would look to spend maybe 80 bucks for a decent dozen Beman, AXIS, or Gold Tip arrows.  The spine of the arrows will depend on what poundage your gonna shoot at.  If you shoot at 70 I would look for something in a .340 spine.  Gold Tip would be 7595, Carbon Express Maxima Hunter 350s, Easton makes plenty of good arrows as does Beman.  I shoot Gold TIp Prohunters 7595 this year, and shot Maxima Hunters last year.  Both good arrows, and it comes down to what you want to spend.

the pse nova is a good entry level bow, or the money they are good. but if you are planning on keeping the bow for a while i wold reccomend getting something a bit better. you could look at the pse bowmadness line. they are great bows. the post falls cabelas has a few in the bargain cave for $400 or less. a good rule i follow is get the best that you can afford. They are entry level for sure. I agree with if you plan to keep it for a while, go big or go home. Shop around, sportsmen just had a bowtech, or diamond (one in the same), but it was last years model that reg price was $800 and on clearance for $400. Don't jump in to quick other wise you'll be buying a new bow every year.

If need be your Martin will be a good enough bow for this year and you can maybe save up a little more. You wont regret buying a high end bow, you might regret the low end.

If I was closer I would let you shoot my switchback, and you could see what I mean.

another great place to look is ebay.  I have bought 3 bow off of there and been happy with all of them.... and have bought them for less than half the price you would pay in a store.

Just keep checking ebay, you'll find a real nice bow in your price range.

Only thing about buying a used bow is you don't know how many times its been shot dry, try to by from somebody you know and trust if at all possible

The best advice I ever got when I decided to buy a bow was to buy the best bow I could afford. I started off by wanting to buy the pse nova, and ended up waiting and buying a decked out switchback, never happier with the decision. My cousin picked up a two year old bowtech allegiance for about 400$ and it is a great bow. If you watch you can find a good deal still.
