I don't know the area real well. I use to hunt the upper part of the Skokomish, for deer and would see Elk sign but no Elk. I would scout around the Dosie Wallops You can look around up by squirm but there is a lot of private land up there and The Elk hang pretty close to the Nat. Forest Boundary once they start being pressured. See if you can get a hold of a Region 6 Biologist and see if they have any recommendation. Region 6 HQ is Montesano.
Happy Hunting

Try visiting the ranger station up there, don't wear camoflage. Tell them you are camping, and want to get the kids into to see some elk. Maybe they can help.

Go up on Mt Jupiter and around the duckabush river area
The elk are there.

Thanks for the help and info guys, Ya RB know how it feels used to hunt up around Neah Bay found a good herd with 6 bulls scouted it every weekend for a month day before it opened talked to one of the gravel truck drivers working up there he saw them bedding down in a clear cut off a landing just before dark, got up opening morning to slip in on them right a daylight, just as we were coming up on landing 2 pick-ups with 4 tribal members in each pulled up on landing above us and opened fire three dead bulls 2 cows and a couple wounded. we just turned and left never to return.
