I have set my personal Minimum score for My Nooksack Bull Tag at 340".

Is this a realistic and obtainable goal?

What are your thoughts? Let me know what you think?

Can you say BRAHMA BULL. Holy cow that one in the field is an absolute stud. Bodywise and antler size. Post more pictures if you have them.

just go into the elk hunting forum and do a search using nooksack as your keyword.
that pic is timber's by the way, from one of those threads. that bull is dead wrapped in freezer paper right now...or eaten. it's been a couple years.

Ok, I looked, and 340" may be a little light for starters. Maybe 360" should be my minimum. Yeah 360" sounds better.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the score on them Nooksack Bulls.  They are incredibly impressive animals;  big bodied, black capes, dark antlers etc...  Local taxidermist had a couple mounted up in his studio the other day.  One of them might have made 340, but both were very impressive.  I understand that it is good to have a goal and score in mind, but the often short tined, heavy beamed Nooksack Bulls are not necessarily known for their high scores.  Most impressive looking elk in the West  in my opinion!!!

I haven't been following some of the posts....what season is your tag for? If it isn't during the first 4 or 5 days of muzzle loader or when I'm in Mexico (part of archery) maybe we can get together for a day or two  . I'm more of a deer/bear hunter when it comes to that area since they won't just give me an elk tag but every now and then I get bored and like to see things get shot. Shoot me a pm. if your interested and we can work out the details. At the very least I'll give you a number and when your up here you can give me a call if you want a hand at any point. I think the only  catch is that if I've got any tags left I'll also be packing. I probably won't use it but....

Well for starters my Brother Finmann and his wife Paula got first dibs on coming up with me for this very special Elk tag. They let me go with them on Her Washington Moose hunt last year and I will have to admit that other than My first Elk I killed that was the best hunt I have ever been a part of. I hope that the Bulls are really fired up and screaming. It will make for a most memorable hunt for all of us.

I am interested in having another very experienced Elk hunter that is very accomplished with his Elk calls come along. I am sure by the time the hunt comes around I will have to sort through all the offers and pick some to help.

I appreciate very much all the support and encouraging comments so far. I want this hunt to turn out well for the sake of all of us that are Elk hunting Enthusiasts. It would just tickle me pink to stick a Monarch or bigger. That 9x9 regardless of score sounds very interesting.

Where are you planning on starting your hunt? I'll probably run into you at some point during your hunting or scouting up there if your hunting around the old crown lines. Maybe I can point you in the right direction and save you some wasted time in others. If you happen to run across a grey dodge on the logging roads stop and say hi. I usually save a good bit of work for Hamilton this time of year

Most likley we will be starting up on Bald Mountain. If that does not pan out for the size of Bull I am after then we will start spreading out and looking in other areas. Private property down low will be our last resort.

Hoping to find a giant hiding up high.

Thanks for your help. Will gladly consider looking at some elk you spot. That would be very helpful in covering alot of areas if you live up there and can scout while you are bear hunting. Let me know if you find any big ones worth looking at. I will be driving a red Dodge 4x4 2500. My brother will be driving a White Ford F250 4x4. I will keep an eye out for you. I probably will be coming up later in august for a scouting trip for a few days.

Wapitihunter, this was my bull from the Nooksack last year. 312 gross, 308 1/4 net. we wont talk about the one that was bigger I let get away. 340 is very doable, be patient, I know we saw several while scouting before season that would have made it.

Hey thank you for the vote of confidence. I will take your advice and hold out for awhile. I have several people already looking for some big ones for me.Lets hope they find a Bigun.

Congratulations on your Bull, he looks very majectic on the wall which is so important IMO. Love the white tips and reddish antlers. That is my favorite part of these west side bulls is when they have a red or black rack with the white tips.I can't wait to get up there and see what we can rustle up.
