rifle shopping
« on: July 13, 2009, 05:31:45 PM »
:) I went to town last weekend, decided I needed a 204, decided to give Remington another chance so went in to pick up a 700SPS stainless.
Went to the new Sportsman Wholesale, everything in there is the same except less guns and no ammo. And still the same counter help, none.
Went to Cabelas, they did not have one, made me take a number to tell me so, tried to sell me other *censored*. No ammo deals. That store sucks. There were some hot womenfolk in the store tho!!
I think I'll call  my bro or go to Elma.
I hate shopping

I'd suggest going to Elma. They are usually way cheaper.

After the way the (I'm assuming) store manager at Wholesale treated me the other day, I don't think I will be going back anytime soon.

I've never had the guts to walk into the one in Rochester.  :chuckle:  Andy out in Elma didn't have much in stock when I was out there a couple weeks ago, but he can usually get them in pretty quick if you order one.

The place in Rochester is a kick...there is furniture and windows and toilets and weird stuff and in the back corner is a room full of guns......I thought his prices looked pretty good on the one or two things I had priced elsewhere.....

Four corners in Castle Rock might.   They also had a nice supple of CZ varmits rifles a month or two ago.

Since you live in Yelm, did you try County Line Guns in McKenna? They have a pretty good selection. I just picked up a Savage model 16 in 204 at Sun Birds in Yelm for $425 about 2 weeks ago. Haven't shot it yet though.

You know how it is, I decided I needed a 204, look at them numbers geeeeeeez. 400 yard rifle, no recoil yeeee hawww>>>>
40 grain, 2 high at 100 2 low at 300, what fun ( I know I am guessing at trajectory)
and then get a AR in 223 and peddle my Tikka 223,hmmmmmmmmmmmm, 243 kills too many coyotes to screw with.
All triggered by taking out the 06 to sight in, or check sight in, and how come I am using it instead of a 300 mag. cause I like it. bear season in a few weeks.
ah screw it, I need a bunch of 45 acp ammo.   LOL

i'd second that.  they make the 527 in a couple configurations in the .204 caliber.  they have a controlled feed mauser type action(if that's important to you) with a single set trigger, push it forward for a 1lb target break...

Rochester has a gun dealer? They still only have one traffic signal.  :chuckle:

PS I used to be able to tell people how to get from my home in Richland to Rochester by simply saying "Get on US 12 westbound, and it is the second light." They've added a few more traffic signals along the route in the last 20 years.

PPS No disrespect to Rochester.  I've watched their Swede Day Parade, and been to many events at the Swede Hall. An uncle of mine helped build it, back in the day.
