I'm more worried about getting in good enough shape to hunt that country the way you need than I am about how big of bull! Bigger than last time would be phenomenal but gotta be realistic with a bow. My goal is a bull that when I see him there is no doubt that is the bull I want to kill at that time, so I won't put a score out there but I hope we can get it on video so all those combinations will make it interesting. nwhunter

I'd sure like to hold out for 370+ not sure I can hold out if I have a good one in close though.

I don't really have a number. I just hope to be able to kill the biggest bull I find while scouting.

I will be more than happy with a nice mature 6 point. We will see if my goals change after some more scouting. I do not want to be greedy but from what everyone has been telling me, maybe I should be thinking bigger.

Depends on the unit, how much time you have to scout, how much time you have to hunt, and the weapon/season.  Had a buddy the year of the fire (2006) with the Dayton tag.  He was holding out for 350.  He ate the tag.  (To be fair, the fire really had things messed up that year, especially during the archery season).
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I remember the fire year.... the elk were a little scarce. We ran into a guy with a bull tag who was holding out and not finding many bulls. we didn't see the usual number of bulls but 1/2 hour after we talked to him we were staring at a 380" plus. If I had a tag I'd shoot the first bull that made me  :yike:

A friend pulled a watershed tag.  I'll be waiting for an excited radio call to go help get a dandy out.  I hope he holds out for a good one, but who knows- any elk is a good one.

You guys in the Blues are way to high 250" is a realistic number to start from. Now the Nooksack on the other hand 350" is a nice round number to start from. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Hope you Guys with Tags over there Nail some monsters this year. If it looks really really big it probably is.

charlie, your bull is AWESOME, the pic in your aviater does not do it justice at all,  WAY more impressive in person.  Man I'd love to draw one of these tags.

I be shooting at a 350" bull even if I knew there was a 370" in the area.  Too many tagless years to be picky.

Anybody that has the Dayton tag should be in for a great year.....Again 350 should be a minimum, but I agree any bull is a good bull. If you want any unsolicited advice when you come scouting, feel free to stop by the P.O. and ask for the Postmaster, I'll be glad to help out if I can. it's an amazing area and the best tag in the state.

Like schroder said it would be great to hold out for that 370 but when that 330 to 350 stands there he will look big. Good luck to all. I just hopes the weather cools down a little before september 8.
