montana trip
« on: July 16, 2009, 06:13:44 PM »
Last friday me and a good buddy loaded up the truck, pointed it east and hit the road.  We made Missoula by 9am and after gas, groceries and liquor we were again on our way.  The plan was to set up base camp on the creek and venture out from there.  Where we typically go there are lots of good stretches of water and a few other rivers and a couple of lakes within traveling distance.  I have been fishing over there for a long time and know most of the water in this area well.  Well...we weren't disappointed.  Friday through Sunday were as good as ever for this time of year.  Bugs hatching all day and fish everywhere they should be.  Sunday night brought thunderstorms.  Showers monday and tuesday slowed things down but we still brought fish up all day.  We saw a bunch of deer, sheep and a few moose too.  Enjoy.

At this moment in time I am only thankful that I can't see the pics so I don't have to argue any particular species.  LOL   I'm glad you had a good time Walt.

This is a Westslope, finer tail spotting than the other Cutts at the top, but looks exactly like the bottom Cutt.

Mis-spoke, center Cutt in the three Cutthroat pics in a row is a Westslope.

I do miss that country... been working and hunting and fishing there for the last 8 years before I moved to Billings... Now I only have the lowly Yellowstone and Bighorn to fish :dunno:
 :chuckle:

They are all Westslopes in Rock Creek.....super pretty fish!

Thanks guys.  We had a great time.  We also caught a handful of rainbows but didn't take that many fish pics because we were usually spread out and I didn't carry a net so managing the flyrod, fish, and camera in moving water can become a challenge.
Hornseeker, I really feel for you man.   :chuckle:
