early archery in boysfort/doty area
« on: July 18, 2009, 09:54:16 AM »
Hey I,m getting ready for the early archery coming up soon, and this is my first year of elk hunting. I've been wanting to hunt elk for quite of few years but just have not because I have the hardest time finding were they are. I see a lot of elk around boysfort area so I think I'll focuss on that area in September. My question is has anyone had success in this area in September and could anyone guide me to a approximate area to start out. Any help is appreciated. I've always wanted to archery hunt elk, and this year for some reason I am pumped up for it more than ever.
To God alone be the Glory!!

I know the Boistfort area is popular, but I am staying away due to high incidents of hoof rot in area. I don't know where in Chehalis you live, but there are quite a few elk not too far out of town. If you spend a few days hiking in behind some gates you should see lots of sign. I am heading towards the coast myself because I am looking for a less-pressured area.

Theres tons of people and lots of hoof rot.  Plus alot of private land also.  I thought you said you have seen alot of elk in that area?? Why would you ask where to go?? Doty doesnt have alot of elk you can kill a cow in the lincoln crk unit though.  Personally i wouldnt hunt either of the two.  I would go to the coast or randle/packwood area.

Bucklucky is right there is good hunting not huge numbers of elk in doty.  If you go in fall river or over the hill to the lincoln crk side you can find elk.
