Fly Fishin tonight
« on: July 18, 2009, 10:11:36 PM »
went out and hit a little pool on the boise river tonight, still kinda new to this whole fly fishin thing but i managed to land 2 little 8" rainbows and hooked and lost a few others, managed to snap a pic of one of the fish i caught before i let him swim away so i thought i would share, by the way ignore the time/date stamp im just too retarded to mess with things like that

It is just like hunting - it becomes an addiction.

You just need to find those rivers that are near the hunting areas, so you can scout in the morning and fish all afternoon.

Hey, my son lives in Nampa too, I fish the upper Boise especially the middle fork, man is that ever some great fly fishing.  Another place you should hit is the Owyhee river below the Owyhee reservoir SW of you, it has Browns that are common over 3 - 4 pounds with fish over 5 from time to time.  I do love to fly fish your neck of the woods...

Just curious, are you an Idaho transplant, that's a lot of posts for an out of stater. :dunno:

Have you heard how the road is up to the middle fork, last summer it was the worst wash board I've ever driven on.  I hoping I can talk my son into another trip up there in a couple weeks.

yea im a transplant grew up in othello got into this site while i was livin in washington and just moved down here last year, yea the road up the middle fork wasnt bad this spring but with campers and hikers drivin up there throughout the summer it gets progressively worse i drove up there last year on opening weekend of deer season and it was "shake your truck apart" bad they fix it right after winter though

I worked in boise for a few months, a few years back and went out and fly-fishing the Boise river almost every night.  One on the best spots I found, in town anyway, was by BSU.  I caught a nice 18' rainbow there, on a prince nymph, one time.  Caught a bunch of smaller ones every night, but there are a few big ones in there...

another thing coon the middle fork boise is now at a good flow for wading according to the fishing report south fork is still flowin around 1900 cfs which is pretty high for wading but it sounds like you like the middle fork better anyway
