They are on the refuge the Julia Hansen just a couple miles from cathlamet. Some are also across on puget Island but thats it as far as I know. We always drive around the refuge when we are there salmon fishing some had nice horns for such small deer.

There is a refuge along the highway between Cathlamet and Skamakawa that holds a fair amount. The last time I went through there, it was so grown over that you could just see the tops of their heads. There are also quite a few of them on Puget Island like was mentioned. Some very nice bucks down there.

JBH has the only population in the State, some do range outside of there but it is illegal to hunt them anywhere in Wa.. They do great photo ops there if you are passing through. Oregon does have some hunting for them in a couple areas.

I used to film them on Puget Island and at JBH for the target footage (ITS and Dart Target System) years ago.  I've seen some nice 10 pt bucks on the refuge.  Oregon has a huntable population now, as mentioned.  Washington still protects them.  I have never seen one off the refuge or Puget Island, but I'm told they have wandered into the nearby foothills.  I've never seen a hybrid buck taken from the area either but I wouldn't doubt if they are out there.

Anyone?  Anyone?  McFly?....

There used to be a real nice one that hung out in that patch of trees across the street and down a ways from the people who used to have the Camels. Haven't seen him this year though.

I know some teenagers got busted for shooting some years back, but otherwise you can't hunt them on the west side.  I know we hit a nice buck right in front of the refuge.  It popped out of the ditch before we could hit the brakes.  Messed up the front of the jeep.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Glad the pricks got caught.  I'm sure Jay hammered them hard, if he had his way.

Cool. Would like to see him this year. My dad has some property on the island, so I'm down that way quite a bit.
