getting my first bow this year for Christmas. i just calculated my draw length and its up there around 33 inches. any suggestions on a good bow for a long arm like me? moneys not really a problem i always just buy what i need so its right the first time, i kinda like the look of the hoyts and my buddy swears by his but im not a brand shopper im a performance shopper. any advice would be appreciated, im no rookie hunter just new to bows, our tradition was always riffle but more often then not im in bow range so i thought id expand my horizons

I must say I love my bowtech. Very fast and accurate bow. I have freinds that have the fancy martins and other bows that they have spent 1500 on and the performance is no different.

like I said last night,arms that long they dont make arrows for the are called spears

Go down to Lucky Shot and shoot a few...... they are very helpful down there.... they have bowtech and mathews....

You sure you calcualted correctly? I have yet to hear of anyone with a 33 inch draw length.

. I think the formula is wing span finger tip to finger tip and then divide by 2.5? That long of draw length will cause you some problems in finding a bow because not all bows come in the "Long Draw". So the pool will be smaller to pick from.

82 inches from tip to tip is my wing span 82/2.5=32.8 so i rounded up

Well If your draw is 33 then Mathews and Bowtech will not work for you....HOYT has bows that go out to 33-34"

The Hoyt Montega has a IBO speed for 270fps and goes out to 34" and then the Hoyt 38PRO is IBO 306 fps
and then you have PSE the X-Force long draw goes out to 33" and is Fast.

Well that method is only an estimate based on others with similar wingspan. The only true way is to go in and draw back a 30incher and see how it feels.

That will put you +or- 1/2" but go to a good pro shop and have them look at you full draw.

thats the one i was looking at online, i'll head down to one of the shops and get "fitted" then all i got a do is give the info to the wife so the kids have something to wrap

I Love my Bowtech. I also have the long arm scenerio. It's hard to find a draw that long, so I suggest going with a 30" or 31" and adding a Loop or D-loop. The loop will add a 1/2 to 3/4". I went to a few archery shops that let me shoot all their bows. I chose the one I did because it felt the best to me, not the name or price.

Getting the Draw RIGHT is the most important thing in shooting good adding a 1-2" D-loop is not the way to do this.

littlebuf how tall are you? i never heard anyone with a 33" draw. i'm 6'4" and am shooting 31"...not that height has much to do with it, just curious i guess.

Great pics! Everybody's form is slightly different. I coach having the bow arm elbow slightly bent to relieve tension in the system. Consistent alignment is key, regardless.

Littlebuf, HOLY COW 33" DRAW!!!!!

do your knuckles drag on the ground?
i would really look into the pse xforce longdraw if i had that draw length. the x force line up are sweet shooters.
havent heard many people with length over 31" you will bel blessed with very fast arrow speed and KE shooting a 33" draw.

I have a 34 inch draw. My bow is a custom built Martin Razor. It's a beast. Hard to find a bow case that fits it. I'm considering having a Hoyt built because I'd like to have a backup.

Real long arms, usually well beyond a foot from my fingertip to the end of the sleeve. Told the gal that runs the gym about my situation and she said I have a high "ape quotient". I thought was funny.

Ended up about $600. The Hoyt would have been a bit more.

I plan to bring it with me to Bownanza at Cedar River Bowmen this Friday p.m. and Saturday a.m. if you'd like to have a look. You might be the only other guy in the state that can shoot it.
