Confused about Regs for GMU 251 Mission
« on: July 23, 2009, 07:53:00 AM »
It looks like almost all of GMU 251 Mission is covered by elk areas Tronsen 2051 and Malaga 2032.  When this happens do the regs for the Elk Areas trump the regs for the GMU?

Also, how come I can't find any regs for those Elk Areas?

Elk areas are separate from GMUs.  If you have a special elk permit for an elk area, you can only hunt in that particular elk area, regardless of which GMU(s) it is in.  Elk areas don't have special regulations; they only determine where permit holders may hunt.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

Bob33 is 99% correct - except Elk Area 2051 Tronsen, is open to general Eastside ML hunting (p.38 of 2009 regs, bottom section of early ML general elk seasons).  GMU 251 is open for general MF (including all of Elk Area 2051); Elk Area 2051 but not the rest of GMU 251 for general ML, neither GMU 251 nor Elk Area 2051 is open for general archery.

There are a few other Elk Areas open to general season elk license holders: 3722 and 2033  :yike: for EF, 1010, 1013 and 3681 for EA, 4941 and 6061 for WA, 6064 for WM.  However, most of the Elk areas are open only for special permit holders.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

I'll make it easy for you.

MODERN FIREARM
Sept 8-Oct 2    Elk Area 2033    Antlerless
Oct 31- Nov 8  GMU 251 True Spike

If it's in red it's a new season just like the regs.  On a side note I wonder what Elk Area 2033 is going to look like for that month.  Talk about a warzone.
