I missed the big 1
« on: August 03, 2009, 03:05:26 PM »
We hiked in here and i missed the big 1, he was around 7 feet long and 400 pounds or better all blond ( the dream bear) i had 2 rush the shot and i missed clean but we r going to get him, here r some pics of our area. We r going to try calling cause it is so thick and maybe i can get him to stand still and offer a better shot. The berries were good and the bears were out earlier than i thought they would b.

Great country to bag one.  Don't know if I would want to pack out a 400lb bear out of there.
Cut em!

Good luck with the bear, would love to see you be successful and see the pics. Those blonde bears are pretty, heres a pic of one that we watched up in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness two years ago. We watched from about 600 yds, for 30 mins., while this bear devoured a hillside covered with berries. Hoping to get back in there towards the end of August and see if we can find a big bear for my son. Hopefully we can find the blonde one, and find that it's put on 100 lbs.

With the catching ends the pleasure of the chase. - Abraham Lincoln
