Pink humpies...

sometimes ya just get tired of catching them..I will pass my rod off to kids if they are around and watch them..

Spur_Ride and I have gone over to the puyallup river the last few seasons and never done real well. People all around us were catching fish, but we only would get one or two every 4 hours! The river is milky white, and we used corkys with pink yarn, with pencil lead sinker about two feet below the fly. Dose this sound right to the veteran humpy fisherman? Guess the weight would skip along the bottom a little slower that the current. Dont know what we were doing wrong!!!

Try Chartreuse (green) yarn and a pink or orange corkie, very visable in murky water. The combo works well for me, and you can catch silvers, kings and humpies at the same time.

How long of liter above your weight and how fast should the drift be???

I use 18" leader,but I dont fish for the humpies,Im fishing for silvers.I only fish one hole its the edge of a cliff with some brush on it..I let it drift under the brush,the silvers  like to lay there.I like to barley touch the bottom with lead..If I using a noodle rod I just float a chunk of eggs no weight..The body of water I fish is only about 20 to 25 feet wide

My drift may be to slow. I am bouncing along the bottom pretty good. I will use a lighter piece of lead, and a shorter leader.

I keep a few smoke'm up send down to the relatives they think there getting something great I keep the silvers for my self.

Does the corkie and yarn color really matter when the water is mud brown??? But I'm with ya Ras except the yarn color needs to use chartreuse! Might see you down there mid month!

[/quote]I dont know but they like green for kings..I use orange sometimes.when the water is that dark I dont fish.

More yarn involved if you flossing.     Then the color isn't as critical, just the speed of the hook set.
