Arrow flipping off rest
« on: July 24, 2009, 08:42:01 PM »
When I draw back and the arm on the drop away rest comes up, the arrow at times flips off the rest.   :(
If I draw back real slow and careful it does not happen.  :)
Is there an adjustment I can make to keep the arrow on the rest and not have the set-up so sensitive??

make sure your nock isnt getting pinched! you need a little slop between the your loop/nock point and your arrow nock!

Usually your cord pulling up your fall-away is too short if it is jumping off the rest. If you draw back really slow and watch your arrow on your rest your rest should be all the way up about 1.5"-2" inch from being at full draw. So your arrow travels 1"-2" on the rest after it is all the way up.
Come down to Lucky Shot and we'll fix you up. What rest are you using.

I am using a Trophy Taker - Shakey.
There is a little room at the knock point, not much and the pull cord seems short.

Make your D-loop be an off-center loop that will create a bit of downward pressure on the arrow by:

Nock an arrow
Slide lower D-loop knot down the string 1/4 inch
Attach a brass nocking point just below nock so it's tight against arrow(or using serving material to tie in a nocking point)
Slide D-loop knot back up
Remove arrow
Tighten D-loop knots with needle nose pliers pushed in between loop and string to create a wedge and push like hell

Problem should be solved

Unless you don't use a D-loop and clip directly on the string.  In that case you must be clipping the release above the arrow, so switch to clipping in below the arrow.

Unless you don't use a release at all.  In that case you must be using 2 fingers above and one below, so switch to two fingers below and one above.

If you're using a D-loop with fingers, then you've got bigger fish to fry than we can help out with.  :chuckle:

Good luck

It sounds like your nock is getting pinched.  Spread the ring out like mentioned.  A whisker Bisquet will help the jumping, but if it is pinching it will make for unacurate or inconsistent shots.

Thanks everyone.   :hello:
I re-did the spread on the "D" loop and that helped.
Wish you all a good hunt.
