Just thought I'd give the game dept a few cuddos , I spoke with the biologist for the Yakima Regine yesterday, he was very insightfull and I was nicely surprised with the good info he gave me. just thought since we give them so much slack talk that when we have something good to say we should put it out there as well . His name Was Jeff seemed like a good guy . coach

I sent an email to the Yakima region office this morning and by afternoon, I got a response from Jeff the biologist about my Observatory elk tag.  No doubt the same person Coach talked to. I very much appreciated his cooperation in getting back to me so timely. He gets double cudos from me.

All the WA bios I've talked with and even the one fishcop I talked with were all first rate ppl and helped with what they could...  The bio I talked to for my Unit 11 ID tag this year cordial, but wasn't in a hurry to help me out...  no kudos for that dude!

Thats typical for fish and game in Idaho...  They really seem to have a chip on their shoulder.  They aren't there to help guys out.  They seem to be there to try and CATCH YA.  That seems to be their focus to me.  Especially to the out of state guys.  Go figure.

I have needed info and talked to a few in the past, every one of them were more than willing to spend time and answer every question I had as best they could.

I just remember when I contacted the bio for my Peaches tag in '07 and he had awesome info and was really personable and was helping out all he could...

I'm now a resident in ID and called the bio out of Lewiston and he answered all my questions, but sure as hell didn't give me anymore info than what I asked for.  I got off the phone feeling like I intruded on his time...

I was talking sheep with jeff and he gave me some good elk info too, he said most of that wenas herd heads way to the west end of 346 , so you gotta locate a few locals in 342. he said that in the past few years they have been trying to get the elk to migrate further.

I have mailed Idaho 3 times and wrote a letter to the regional office in idaho asking for the name of the biologist in area 1-1 for the panhandle and haven;t got any reply and that was 2 and three wees ago. Sounds like wa. biologist are at least answering.

I have had good luck with bio's in every state I hunt....try calling Region 1 on the phone....lots of people don't send many letters these days....
