Tip for you Camelbak users
« on: July 29, 2009, 01:33:42 PM »
I recently picked up Camelbak Hawg.  Before buying it, I was comparing the models they have here on base on their website and found a good tip on keeping water nice and cold.  The night before your trip, take out the reservoir and fill it halfway.  Place it flat in the freezer over night.  Make sure it is flat so the water freezes without a big lump at the bottom and that the opening is up.  Fill it the rest of the way the next day.  I'll be giving it a try during early archery.

Good idea, I have seen the ones with the gel pak surrounding the water, that you can freeze.  This may be better in the long run.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

I just keep my stored in the freezer half full all the time.

If you're like me and forget things, a string from the pack to the freezer/fridge door (along with a list) helps with the reminding.

I keep mine in the freezer as well. It works great for cold water and also keeps crap from growing in the water when I'm not using it.

I would first have to pack a freezer up to camp...... What about the second day?.....I drag my a$@ into camp around 8:30 or later, get up at 4:00, I aint got time for that.... Drink warm water, or go thirsty.

This only works the first time when leaving the house after that it's warm water.

I also carry one of those water bottles with a built in filter because I usually forget to fill my damn camelback and just grab my pack in the morning and get going and realise its empty later... :bash:
