Got my gun back!
«
on:
July 29, 2009, 04:17:36 PM »
Just got my Rem 700 back from the gunsmith. I bought it when Joes was going out for 400 so I figured I had a little extra to put into it. Had the stock bedded and textured, the barrel floated, trigger dropped to 3 lbs from 7.25 lbs and Muzzle brake installed. It's a screw on brake and you can't even see the seam. I'm stoked to get out and shoot it, just waiting for a scope to come in.

To be honest Littlebuf I'm not really sure! I will talk to my buddie to find out if he just does this full time or not, I dropped my gun off with my buddy and he picked it up so I'm not sure where he is. I'll find out for you!

They say it does, but I don't know really! He told me it took the recoil down to a .243
My scope is on order so it'll be a couple of weeks before I get to find out for myself.

take it from me, it will be a lot louder. Use banded plugs when hunting and muffs on plugs at the range.

i'm shooting a 300wm with a brake and yeah it's louder, but the recoil is greatly reduced. i can shoot and never loose the target in the scope...i can watch where the bullets hit...significantly less than a 30-06.
some brakes are better than others re: noise.
