Great shots! Are the first two HDR??

Yeah, I did combine a few images on those javman.  There was some pretty extreme contrast in those images and it was hard to get the mountain and foreground in the same exposure.  I guess in the old days I would have used a split grad filter.  I love the new digital.

Do you use any GND's? I've always wanted to pick some up, but figured it'd be too much hassle, and just more weight to carry around everywhere. Most of my mountain shots I just blow out the highlights

Nice to have you visit my backyard. You did it justice with those pictures. For all my years I never ever get tired of seeing pictures of Mt. Rainier and the surrounding landscape.

I suppose all the times of my dad taking us up to Ashford and Alder lake as kids got into my blood causing me to move out there.

I don't use them anymore Javman.  It's much easier (and lighter) to just HDR the photo later on.  You can really push the envelope with HDR so I try and stay conservative with it but it's fun to really make them look "fairytale" like.  These aren't done too crazy or conservative.  If I were to put them in a magazine I would probably tone down the HDR a tad on the images.  To each his own.  I like them how they are.

I got a few others I will post if I get time in a few days.

Thanks Tom.  Neither did my daughter.  As I did that first photo to post here she asked me where that was.  I told her she was standing right next to me when I tookt he photo and she was surprised.  She said my picture looked better than the real thing.  I guess that's a compliment...    

 

Nice shots Shawn.  The best compliment (I think) that I get from my daughters is, "You didn't take that!"

Too bad my camera and photography skills are not better or this could have been a great shot.  Taken before sunrise at Summerland a couple years ago.  It was much better in person.
