I bought a williams peep........AND LOVE IT!!!
« on: July 31, 2009, 08:00:31 AM »
Holy smoke pole...why would anyone shoot a muzzlelaoder without a peep.  This thing is awsome.  5 shots at a hundred yards 3 inch groups.   I love it.  Next week I venture beyond 100 yards to 150-200??? :chuckle:

I been thinking of getting one for my hawken. What gun do you shoot? Did you have to change the front sight?   3" at 100 yards, very nice.

I'm shooting a TC Black Diamond XR.  I did not have to change my front sight and amazingly enough after mounting my williams I did not have to make any adjustments.  It was 2" high at 50 and dead nuts at 100.

I purchased the Williams peep sight but after sighting in I realized I needed a different front sight. I liked the fiber optic that came on the gun. I called Knight and they sent me the correct sight for no charge if I remember right. It is a green fiber optic.

I love the Williams peep sites. I have them on my Knight and my Marlin Cowboy 45-70. You won't go wrong with them.
One word of caution. If you go with the smaller peeps you won't be able to see well in low light. I have found that in low light I can take the peep out and shoot without it and as the sun comes up in the morning I screw the peep back in.

I like the low light peeps they sell for them with the little shiny ring around them.

On my 45-70 I shoot the BIG peep with the little tiny hole. Not sure if I like it yet. It's more for long range shooting and would not be good for hunting.

Midwayusa.com has a great sellection of these sites.

Yes, I love Williams peep sights; I have one on my Marlin 45-70 Cowboy and another on my Marlin 30-30 Cowboy.

I have a Lyman peep sight on my Lyman Hawken and I find it to be a great sight, as well.

With this peep sight 150 yards all day long  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

With a little more practice 200 yards is possible.  Yesterday 4/5 shot at 200 yards were in an eight inch target.

I was looking for the peep because I didn't see the Bighorn listed on that link.

So you need to change the front sight also?

I looked at the link too. Not sure which part number but I would call Williams to make sure you got the right one.

I did need a taller front sight for my Bighorn. I just looked for a part number but could not find one. It is slightly taller than the stock sight. My front sight came from Knight.

I have the basic peep sight. Maybe with the target knobs you would not need a new front sight. Not sure.

This is the one I put on my Bighorn....camo/stainless.  Put the same sight on my Wolverine camo/ blued...only blued in color on that sight.  Google egunparts......much cheaper....$35.03, instead of $65-$80.

Have not shot mine yet, but a friend bought a Bighorn and the same sight.....he just removed the rear stock sight on the Bighorn and left the front on.  Said he seemed to be able to see the front sight (fiber optic) just fine with the peep.

I just bought the Firesight Ghost Ring Aperture and am going to see if it fits onto the base of the Williams Firesight that came on my Bighorn.  It looks like it should fit right on there but will let you guys know when I get it.  If it works it cost me $13.95 with shipping.

I just ordered the WGRS-legend for my bighorn.  It is listed for "modern Muzzleloading" legend and wolverinre.  Modern ML is (was) knight, and the wolverine is the same receiver as the bighorn (so I was told)

The Bighorn and Wolverine are essentially the same gun, just different models (different barrel lengths, camo etc.).  Bighorn comes with all the ignition systems....Wolverine does not...just comes with one...either .209 or percussion/musket cap.  Everything interchanges between the two.  That's the reply I got from Knight when I asked about switching out the .209 plug in the Wolverine and replacing it with the #900023 breech plug, which accepts caps, and comes with  the Bighorn.

Just got the sight.  On the back it says the WGRS legend fits Legend, Wolverine, Bighorn and American.  Fits factory drill and tap.

It screwed right on, looks slightly higher than my OE sight, but I think OK due to factory being low at 100 yds.  I like the compact size.

I shot a little button buck last year with my buddies muzzy. I liked it so I went and bought a Knight bighorn. I scored the peep sight for $35.00 all because of this site.

thanks

Finally got my Fire Sight Ghost Ring aperture from Williams.  It fit right on to the base of the sight that came on my bighorn.  Haven't shot with it yet but I like the speed of aiming with it.  Cost me $13 with shipping.

Got out and shot today with the Ghost Ring.  I really like it.  Fast target acquisition and accuracy is great.  As a matter of fact I didn't even have to adjust it.  Got lucky and the thing was dead nuts.

Williams rear peep with a front Lyman 17a globe sight inset with Lee Shaver's insert set for a duplex crosshair. Shoots well to 250 yards.
