« on: July 31, 2009, 04:18:21 PM »
ive convinced my self hunting will be a good idea tomorrow,i'll be out my door about 2:30 am and be up in the woods a little after three. yeah i know its gonna be dark but im hoping the hot days will have the bears active at first light while its still cool. what time are you headed out?

It's so hot over here all the bear grease would run off the carcass before I got it back to the truck.

On the road at 1:30 to be at my spot by 4:30.  Then it is uphill hiking for 5 miles and 2500' of elevation gain.  Unless I spot one near the bottom of the mountain.  Please God please.  Good luck all.

 :yeah:

No way am I hunting in this. With my luck I'd knock a big fat pig down and would have to drag that greasy pig out in 95+ degree heat. I'll wait till it cools down quite a bit before I head out.

Brother and  I are headed out Late Sunday night, early Mon. morning.  Gonna be up with the chickens Mon. and hunt some meadows with lots of water, feed and cover around them..... gonna get my first bear, if I have to indian wrestle him to the ground.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Got hung up in Central Oregon so wont be back in WA until pro 2-3...but plan to try the last 3 hrs of light scouting elk spots and carrying a bow for bear self defense...lol

In this heat I might be tempted to let him chew on me a while instead of killing him and having to drag him out! :P

My lazy brothers want to sleep in so not leaving till 5am.  >:(  Im bringing the camera and hunting uphill from the truck.   :chuckle:  I will only shoot one if it can be back to the truck real fast.  If not will try to scare the hell out of my brothers by seeing how close I can get one to come in.  Got three big coolers ready to fill with ice on the way up just in case.  Greasy bear sounds to yummy to pass up.  F'n stoked to get out there and do some calling (with my new calls), pick some berries, scout for elk and get some exercise.

Your WILD MAN 5 miles in with heat like we've had, not this guy.

I'll wait for at least 70's as highs before I get out there, but to all you that are heading out good luck and have a safe hunt.

For those of you that stayed out of the heat, smart move.  I was pretty close to heat stroke by the time I got off the mountain.  Had a good time until the last 2 hours for the hike out.  Heat was brutal.  We saw one nice boar that we called to 20 yards but took a 370 yard shot at, a little 90 lbr, and a sow with three cubs.  I'll post a story later.
