Weyco closing access
« on: August 02, 2009, 04:33:56 PM »
Does anyone know if Weyco closes access if it gets too dry in Willapa Hills? I know they close access in other areas was just wondering if I should have a backup area. Any past experiences with this would be helpful. Thanks.

Anyone one know how much/many days of rain it takes for them to open it back up? Guess I'm not scouting anytime in the next 2 weeks.

I'd be willing to bet that Willapa Hills will be open for walk in during Early Bow Season.

Don't know about after archery, but it is all closed.  No set shut down times though.  Last year it was opened just a day or two before early archery season.  Just need a few days of heavy rain usually does it.  However, I'm good friends with the Weyco woods security guy here.  He told me all Weyco lands south of Raymond sold to a private investment firm.  That could change things significantly soon!

i was in the willapa unit this weekend for bear by the grays river, the rayonier company closed up there stuff, they were logging where i was but not public access which meant i couldnt get my cameras out  :(

but i went just parallel to it and was in the lincoln timber co. land and gates were shut as usual but no signs posted of fire danger, saw a dandy bear but it spooked and took off. i sure hope they open stuff up atleast for some pedaling access for bow early season.

I passed two different forest service fire fighting trucks in the hills near White pass on Sunday, just watching, waiting, and sniffing the air.

Actually the 'lincoln timber' property is CLOSED.  Rayonier owns what used to be lincoln timber, there just must not be any new signs up.

Remember guys, just because there are no signs, doesnt mean it isnt closed. Its a minimum of  a $1000.00 fine from what I was told  :dunno: And they usually take this fire danger pretty seriousely.

How many of you bought Rayonier leases this year and can't use them now?

I'd be P-O'd if I paid money for one and couldn't use it now.  How many fires are caused by guns anyway?  I thought they proved that one 'Busted' on MythBusters.

I only know of one member on here who has a Rayonier lease.  Those guys will have access once we get some decent rain.  As for fires being started by guns that is not the issue.....its hunters and the general public with no common sense that start fires.  Smoking....campfires....ATVs....and Vehicles.  Once the woods are opened up everyone one of us should have fire tools and a piss can in our rigs during bow season.....fire season does not end until the middle of October.
