I don't think so, but I would do it with the dog on a leash and no guns. I don't see how that could be against the law. For all they know you're just taking the dog for a walk in the woods.

I would take the dog for a walk and maybe pack a high powered pistol just in case you run into trouble.

You may want the side arm, just in case the shot wasn't as well placed as intended. Your dog may find a pissed off bear otherwise.
