Been fighting this mole problem when out of no where
« on: August 07, 2009, 02:02:12 AM »
I have been trying for a few days now to catch this dang mole that has taken over my front yard >:( >:(.  I have the 22 sitting by the window just waiting for that mole to rear its ugly head from where I have been flooding its tunnel then  :mgun:

So I was just outside checking (01:30) up on the mole, when I heard this noise coming from the woods. It was the sound of crunching of dry leaves and the breaking of limbs like something was walking through there. Ran back inside to exchange the 22 for something much bigger like the pre64 mod 70 06 featherweight and a brighter light. When what do my wondering eyes should appear, but a large blackie about 50 feet away from me. If I had to guess it was around 200 lbs, kind of hard to determine in the dark so that is what I'm going with for now.

Not wanting to get in trouble, or wake the wife up :bdid: I just stood there and watched where it went so that I could see if I can get a shot at it at 1st light.  Hopefully I will have meat in the freezer soon.  :whoo:  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

Didn't get one bit of sleep last night  :o my mind was going a mile a minute figuring out how to approach this in the morning.

Stayed up all night  :P and come 5 I was out into the woods trying to find it, found where it has been eating some of wild strawberries and bugs from an old log that had been getting watered weekly by my sprinkler.  Found some scat and what looks to be where it took a nap.  The ground felt a little warm still so it either smelled or heard me coming because I didn't see a dang thing  :dunno:.  Spent the last 3 hours listening and waiting but nothing.

Calling a buddy up who does some calling to see if he will come up this afternoon in hopes of getting it to come out and play.  I will let you know what happens over the weekend.

Obviously you have never seen Rasbo or deaddog at work....    :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.
