Any fly in alaska trip recommendations?
« on: August 03, 2009, 07:30:25 AM »
Pushin some things around I think I'm going to take the wife to alaska for a few days end of aug.

Any single day fly in suggestions, or single day guided suggestions (cheaperish)

Thinking 1st day fly in then a few days driving around (show my old high school, stomping grounds, etc...)

was figuring someone here had a connection to someone there, and thought that'd be a good place for some cash to go rather than just hitting the yellow pages.

check out www.theotatmaadventures.com  Good people, that is getting a little late in the year for salmon but the trout fishing should be pretty good.  They are just outside of anchorage.

If you are not overly stuck on the idea of a fly in, you can try 3 rivers or Mahay's out of Talkeetna. They will bring you up the river in jet boats, then drop you off for a day trip or you can stay there over night.

It is an awesome trip, usually every time I went seen grizz, moose, eagles and caught a ton of fish.

not stuck on fly in, cheaper is better (means I can hit a cheap charter out of homer too).

Go without her. That will cut the cost in half and the she can take care of the crap part. it's a win win compromise. :twocents:
