I alternate between running and biking.  Last week I started jogging with some weight.  Coyote hunting helps too.  I have been waiting a long time for a bull tag and I'm not gonna screw it up because I can't cross that last ridge or hike that last mile.  I can't control the rut and I can't control the weather but I do have control over my stamina.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

I have been working out as much as I can. Droped about 15 pounds so far.  I am a little nervous about my hunt in Utah. We the unit is at 6,000' to 8,000' in elevation. I don't want to look like a slug up there. How do to train to get use to elevation?

hey machias  , what does all that stuff mean?   ( i know it cant be good)

I might have a blockage or maybe even a little worse then that, I might even have a little dead tissue on my heart.  I should know something better in a few days.

Let's hope thats not the case.

I have been running 4 -5 times a week and hiking every other weekend.  Put 10 1/2 miles on with a pack in the blues this weekend.  Lost about 10 lbs so far.  I still have a ways to go.  You can never be in as good of shape as an elk.  A little nervous for the watershed.

I am extremly out of shape.. Working two desk jobs and doing online schooling at night doesnt help much either.  I am done with my summer college schedule next wednesday until this middle of sept so now I am getting motivated to get into shape for fall.  Tonight was my start I ran the staircase 10 times and then did some light excersizes (cruches, squats etc)  I will keep vamping it up and then hopefully we can get out and do some activities outdoors.  Muley has been playing paintball and his day job is pretty active he is on his feet moving all day.  We bought a scale 2 weeks ago I believe ...Hes lost about 12+ pounds and I have lost 3 ha ha ha.  My goal is atleast 10 more hopefully 15 if I really work hard.  If I lose 10 I will be at my correct weight for my heigt if I lose 15 I will just feel really proud :)

:(  I had a ECG this morning which came back as abnormal, Sinus bradycardia and possible Inferior infarct.  I looked them up, alittle scary.  I have a follow up with a cardiologist.  At least they didn't life flight me out of there.   :)  I have been biking and started having some minor chest and arm pain.

I hope everything works out for you on the heart. Scary stuff right there.

I have a friend that at 40 years old started having pain in his face when he would exercise. He went to the doctor and the doc put him on a treadmill. As soon as the pain started in his face the doc looked at the heart monitor and told him to stop immediatley. He was about to have a heart attack. Turns out he had 90% blockage. He ended up having a couple stints put in.

on a serious note, I have found that no matter how good of shape I am in, Mother Nature always seems to have a way of humbling me.

Considering that I am a Land Surveyor and have a fairly active job, when I work outside, I am in shape pretty much year round as far as the hiking and walking go. I could be a little better on the cardio side. I lost 40 pounds in the last 5 months so I am at my goal weight but I still have some fat on me. I could probably lose another 5-10 pounds and be at my Ideal weight of 170-175 5'11". I am as ready as ever for elk season. Nooksack is wispering in my ear constantly. :yike:
