Damn high dollar scopes...lol

Well, after 10 years+ of hunting with a whitetail classic on my 300 WM I decided to upgrade and got a 8-32x50 Nikon Monarch ED...

Well, after me and catwithboost wore out our shoulders we realized it wont zero! at 75 yrads max turned to the left still has point of impact 9 inches to right.

tried changing mounts...nope

put scope of my 17 hmr...now wont go down enough

put the whitetail classic back on...zeroed in like 4 shots...

so much for ya get what ya pay for!

its headed for the shop!

guess Ill stick to my bow for a while!

Are you speaking of a particular model or the whole Mueller line?  I read that only the APV is non-magnum rated.

Nikon glass is very clear, but read years ago the adjustments were not repeatable enough for competition.  Otherwise I'd consider them a fine scope.

Never owned a scope by Nikon, and although I do relize they are made by men, and that mistakes happen. With this being said, I wouldn't be against owning one, and they will stand behind their products.

Not a high-end scope.
That place begins with Nightforce, S & B, US Optics, and the Tactical line of Zeiss. Premier Reticles has a new scope out too.

Yep, I've a pair of Nikon binocs, on my second pair and they need to go back....what a pain in the arse.

Good clear optics.....but they just have this one little problem......yea, thats all it takes to leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Well..

went to sportsmans today with rifle and scope...  traded my 15$ weaver base and rings set ups for  55$ leupold base and rings set up!

started the scope at zero and did the primary left and right adjustments with the base and after that max'd out then used then adjustments in the scope...

guess what...its not max'd out

Sooooo, now that its boresighted Ill have to get it to a range and see if I can truely zero it!

Then Ive gotta find a safe place to check each of my drop down reticles (out to 600 yards) to see where my 180 gr's are actually hitting per reticle...  then create my chart for lamination and placement on my stock!

then Ill be ready to shoot bears at 20 yards in Western WA with Jackelope....

Ill put Nikon Monarch Glass clarity against any Leupold 200$ more expensive...thats how I changed my mind from the 1200$ 56mm Leupold to the 8-32x50mm Monarch  (side by side quality check)

Use them reticles for what they were designed for! Soon, you'll have 'em memorized by heart, and won't need a cheat sheet, just a quick glance.

This takes out all the confusion. Now, make something like this in a business card size, have it laminated so its water proof, stick it in a "stock-pack", and you'll have what I have.....giving away ALL me secrets, ain't I?

Long Tat-My Monarch's are about to go back with the same problem, the eye cups keep coming off! Before they have even hit the woods, guess I'm just lucky that way, huh?
I think I'll have to do this year the same as what I did last year, tape 'em on with some electrical tape to get me through the hunting season, then mail em off next year.

The clarity is amazing though. I think you'd have to spend over $1000 to beat 'em. I've handled the Swaro's and the Leica's and at extreme long range, hell yes they beat the Nikons, but you know what? THEY DAMN SURE BETTER! The amazing part, they "just" beat them.

I've got some great bases on my rifles, from Seekin's Precision to Badger Ordnance, with base/ring combinations getting close to $300.00. I'll never go back to anyone elses.

The only scope I will put on my rifles.  I have nothing for praise for the product and the customer service and the warranty.  I've never had one fog up, never had an issue sighting them in, and the only one I ever had to send back, (which was only damaged because I dropped a rifle) they paid for everything and sent me a new one.  Nikon's may be great and I've never owned one. With my Leupold I have piece of mind and confidence in it.   

But glad to hear Nikon stood behind their product and you got your issues figured out!

Never a slam, but maybe you should try using them???

I had to return a Luppy because of fogging, and a friend up the street purchased a Remmy 700 Mountain Rifle in '06 SS branny new and also picked up a Luppy VX3 with rings and base, tried to sight it in, and it wouldn't. He thought there was something wrong with his rifle. I told him to bring it over, I stuck my 6.5-20 Luppy VX-III on it, and it shot amazing groups.

He took the scope back, exchanged it-end of problem.

Like I said before, if its made by man, things can go wrong. Luppy isn't fool proof, but they DO have amazing customer service, and make a great scope. I own several, mostly high-end M-1's and M-3's.
