Deer scouting: Snakes up in the Colockum?

As soon as the temp goes back into double digits  I want to head up to the Colockum (starting south of the game reserve and moving south).  I've never seen a rattler up there but curious if others have.  Thanks.

I worked an entire summer up around the Elk Horn Ranch building fences.  It's by a creek in the sage brush.  I never saw a rattle snake the entire summer.  I go up hiking up there alot and video bulls alot and have never seen a rattle snake.  Although I guess there's a bunch along the bottom of Naneum Creek.

Lots of snakes in the lower canyons towards the river, We used to hunt them there, There's also small scorpions under the rocks. Never saw any up on top.

We've eaten a few rattles elk hunting (archery) up there.

Naneum has got a bunch down toward the creek - I've seen them when riding my horse up from the bottom in the summer.  Stay away from the creeks and you should be ok I think.  Maybe.

The tarpiscan is loaded with em.  Just stay away from the brushy lowland creeks.  Up high we've never run into any.

If you stay in the timber you'll be fine.  Where the other two were talking about lots of snakes, that area is not open unless you drew a special permit.  If you stay in the timber you'll be fine.  Although the closer to the hay fields you can get the better.

I've seen lots of snakes on the river side!!  But, again, it's down low...

Lower Clock has a ton.  Seen any pics I've posted lately.

I stopped hunting birds in the Clock early season down low near the river because I hate snakes!  I ran into a couple a few years back, now I dont see snake because I try to stay away from there habitat during before the first few frosts

We're talking about down by the Columbia....

If you're staying up high you shouldn't have any problems.  If you start dipping down into the canyons that run down to the Columbia you will run into snakes.
