« on: August 04, 2009, 04:08:05 PM »
Well I picked up some property in the Enumclaw area and have seen a few good bulls so far.
Is there anybody that hunts around this area. I am moveing over and was just wondering what
a few guys thought of the area for deer and mainly elk.
work hard and reap the reward or dont and get left behind!!!

The Muckelshoot Indians have hunted the hell out of the area for years.

The elk are fewer and fewer, but still there.

Don't blame it all on the Muckelshoots. The locals ave been letting the air out of those herds for years also!!

i don't know those units but if it's in the white river unit outside of the claw i think it's mostly permit only for bulls. i don't remember and don't have regs handy.

I believe you are correct, and if i remember correctly, it was the tribe that brought the elk numbers down for the WDFW to put it to a permit only area.

There is a decent local herd in the area that roams from pasture to pasture.  They come through my place quite abit too.  I personally have never shot the local elk but have been very tempted when a 7 point comes strolling through when we are at the breakfast table.  The locals were pretty upset a couple years ago when some hunters were hiding in the culverts waiting for them to cross the roads.  Some of the farmers are tired of mending fences, so the give permission to some people.

I know they are still out there... a friend of muley's dad has an apple orchard that they have ruined 2 years in a row we told him well be on call just give us the word and we will be there to protect the orchard. Not sure about other areas but they are still around.  Ive also seen bear on the other side of the river as you go down the hill past that big farm next to the river and back up the other side in that protected widelife area I have seen a Bear with 2 cubs it was a few years ago though.
