Selkirks?
« on: August 06, 2009, 11:10:36 PM »
Gentlemen,  I was planning on heading over to the Selkirk unit to do some scouting this weekend.    My question is,  is there any chance any of the unit gets closed for fire danger?   It's an awful long way for me to drive to find out I can't actually get around anywhere.  lol.   Any help you could offer would be appreciated.    :)

Call the Forest Service Ranger station and they can tell you.

I used to work at the Newport Ranger District in fire management and we used to call it the "asbestos national forest" hardly ever burns and when it does it usually doesn't move too fast. high danger at times meaning you need to not do certain things and/or carry certain things but shouldn't be aproblem.

Ok, please bear with the horrible photo.   It was too far away for my crummy little camera.   Actually only about 100 yards though.   Anyway.......

On my scouting trip, I bumped into this little guy.     What's your best guess as to his spread?    Just take a guess.

I was able to put my ruler right up to the screen and the best I could come up with was an inch and three quarters.
