nest in my apple tree

is there anything i can do to preserve the apples in this nest?  i would like to take it down and give it to a buddy  , but what about the apples?????

Leave it there. Them little suckers kill an amazing amount of insects including mosquitos. They are fascinating to watch. Even though I get into them quite often at work I still enjoy watching them work, they are extremely industrious critters.

If you go out after dark when it is cold at the end of the growing season you should be able to get the apples without getting nailed. Spray a platic bag full of raid and wrap it around the nest and tie it off. That should take care of any bees. Then you can take the nest without getting whooped on. :chuckle:

 :chuckle: Yeah deffinatly wait til dark or later in the year when they are not active.  I saw pretty nice nest while Runamk and I were running around up in Capital Forest looking for Bear.  I though Ohh I'll just walk up on it and break the branch off and put it in the back of my truck.  WRONG thing to do!  :chuckle:

Ha ha ha !!!!!!!!! Only land surveyors know about bees really well cause we are always chopping out property lines and hacking right throught them.

One time my dad was looking for a Bench mark and hit a old tire with his machette. The yellowjackets exploded and attacked him from the tire. He went running right through traffic waving and beating himself with his straw hat. He said everybody in their cars that could see him were laughing their heads off as he ran right through traffic.

Heavyhauler, I would think that there is not going to be a way to preserve the apples without them turning rotten on you. I believe that is what you wanted to know? There might be some things online if you did a research but I dont think there is anything that can save the apples. If you leave it up through the season hopefully the apples will rot out and they will rebuild the nest. If not then like said just go out at noght and remove the apples and they can rebuild the nest..

And that is a very nice beehive.

i dont think i can leave it there.if you look in the background you can see my ground blind material.its  right by there.also i cant shoot 30 yards on my bow range because its right by the nest. i didnt think there was a way to preserve the apples. thanks for all the help

Sweet nest. Ive had some luck in finding abandoned ones but the raid in a plastic bag trick would work really well I dont know about the tee-ball bat idea though  :chuckle:
